Mom Founded Poppy Pundits, An Experience Creator Brand

Today, adults or kids aren’t kidding when they say, ‘My phone is my lifeline’. But Nikita Jaggi wants to change this sentiment. Started in 2016, Poppy Pundits is an engagement and event organisation company that curates and organises offline theme-based experiences, across the country. The brand aims to get people of all age groups to gainfully engage in productive activities.
Poppy Pundits is brought to existence
Graduated in Mass Communication, Nikita worked as a corporate marketing professional for 14 years. After becoming a mom herself she started noticing that kids and even some adults have almost no hobby, or if they do, then they couldn’t find any time to pursue them. The thought of spending time and doing something meaningful led Nikita to ideate and create a platform for anyone; a newborn, a teen, or an adult, to engage in age-related activities and build a hobby to their liking.

“Poppy Pundits’ activities intend to enable a person to think of an idea which they can later use in their day-to-day life. This subsequently introduces them to new perspectives and concepts. The primary thought is to help people understand and build a hobby which they would want to keenly pursue.”
The business
The mompreneur believes that there is no direct competition for the brand. She claims that they focus on a single segment of event planning, which is, creatively engaging people. She collaborates with other women entrepreneurs and assist them in strategising for various experiential activities and other audience-engaging programs.

Interestingly, her first client was her ex-boss.
“I communicated to my then-boss Sharon, that I was ideating about Poppy Pundits. Almost immediately, in a few days, Sharon called me up to plan and organise her son’s 7th birthday. And just like that, she became Poppy Pundit’s first customer. Long and fruitful journey since then, I now work with sector agnostic companies to organise corporate engagement programs, and my clients place their trust in me, and in my professional decisions and planning.”
The brand actively organises events as a part of CSR activities for corporate companies. One such event had differently-abled kids, from an NGO name Vaani, invited to the office and have them paint on a big canvas along with the office employees, while they all danced. Post-event the canvas from the activity was hung in the office. Next year another event was arranged with kids that included an obstacle race, followed by food art, and finally gifting them the things that were on the participating kids’ wish list.

Family – my backbone!
After having a baby, Nikita personally feels that being an entrepreneur allowed her to spend more time with her family, as she can figure out things her own way. She does have some ‘me time’ too, to relax and have some peace of mind.
“It was my brother who came up with the name Poppy Pundits. He was the voice of support when I had to make the decision to start my entrepreneurial journey. My mom has assisted me in 3 to 4 events and even conducted workshops while I needed a helping hand, and she happily gets involved with Poppy Pundits.”
Nikita adds, “My husband supports me tremendously. He not only takes care of the baby when I’m busy but also manages the household, and makes sure that he is available for me when I need him. So, we efficiently plan our day and balance out our personal and professional life, prioritising to spend time with our baby.”

Her son is now habituated with her work life and she plans her day such that the mother-son time is not disturbed. At times, her son comes along with Nikita in her work meetings, and the clients understand it too.
Surely, ‘I Boss Mom’
The mom founder believes that planning is important when one has a personal and professional life.
“Mothers, don’t think too much. Just be determined in achieving your future endeavours and you will find support. Life is one journey to live, if you have one wish, make it happen and you will do wonders.”
